Reasons to get married

1) I got pregnant

2) We live together for so many years, it is time to move forward

3) I want to have a family

4) We want to buy a house and it is easier to get a loan or mortgage

etc etc

well for Alf all of these don't mean anything.

The most important reason to get married is:

Sal: My best friend is getting married in three days...
Alf: It would be nice to go to their marriage but I am going back to UK in 4 days
Sal: Welllll, I was thinking that it would be nice if we could have a wedding together.
Alf: That's cool. Let's go back to bed now

CONGRATULATIONS MATE.

See you for drinks tonight.

Alf Congratulations and all the best for your common future! I am sure that you did the right thing and I am glad that you found your other half.

To the rest of us (and especially to the official blogger) I wish that we could all get decisions so spontaneously. Decisions carrying such a simple truth and that are so genious and courageous like the one that Alf did . I am afraid that this will remain a simple wish (speaking for myself), or maybe not???

Oops... Some people did ask us is it because sally got pregnant so that we get married so abrupt. I have to say IT IS NOT TRUE! Anyway, I and sally are not normal people. We don't handle our life in usual way. By the way, we don't go have a child. Everyone knows raising a child costs how much. We prefer blow out that money on ourselves rather than raising a child with that money. We are hedonists.

hahahahahahah

I know I know (about hedonists).

But after marriage women change. The next time you are off for vacations, you will anoounce that you have twins.

That's admittedly an helluva good reason to get married, I'd say, and certainly not much worse that most people's "reasons"!;-) Having said this, since a (female) friend of mine is about to leave for Taiwan for a year as an exchange student, I must make a mental note to remind her of such Taiwanese habits!;-)

Congrats, then... and please, you "infrared" and "hyperfine structure" folks and such, no wonder you do not hold much hope of getting married... what about, as they say, getting a life and a not-so-nerdy nickname for start?;-)

nerd? me?
that calls for some toumba action and also it forces me to remind you of my grandfather in the war.

i am more than happy to get married if you decide to offer me a permanent position.

;-) Nothing wrong with your grandfather, I could see his point, back then, and at least HE was man enough to take his responsibilities AND not to freak out about a paper to be sumbitted by the end of august (as if...)

On a more serious note, while I understand how getting a permament position might help you being granted a mortgage, the world being as it is if u r going to wait to land a permanent position before getting married chances are your children will blissfully end up playing with your friends' grandchildren!

PS : ok, I admit it's all because I'd LOVE to come over to Greece for one of your big-fat-*** weddings!;-)
